This ain't "The Apprentii"...

...especially since, as far as I know, there's no such word as "apprentii."

If you watch The Apprentice, which I am known to do, you may also have seen the finale. There's a bit of a debate going on. Here's a little article on it, with some reader reactions.

I must say, when I saw the finale and Randal said that Rebecca should not also be hired, I thought it was kinda harsh. (Trump hired Randal, then asked him if he thought Rebecca should also be hired. Randal stated no, that there should only be one winner, and that the show is entitled "The Apprentice," not "The Apprentii.") However, a few minutes later, I decided that he shouldn't have had to share- he won fair and square. He's INSANELY well-educated, book-learnin'-wise. (Though he did fucking say "apprentii." Whatever, I'll be charitable and chalk it up to nerves, I guess.)

Then, tonight I saw a clip of that part of the finale while I was watching "The Soup" on E!, where they were making fun of Randal for being so cold to his former teammate. When I saw it again, I thought, "Well, why the hell does the black guy have to share?," when I hadn't even thought about race the night before. Then, I googled to see if others were having a similar reaction, and found the MSNBC article.

I don't know. I don't think Trump is necessarily racist, but it was strange...maybe he knew that he had to have Randal, but was kinda smitten with Rebecca and just wanted to let her in, too? Perhaps he picked Randal, counting on his good-naturedness, assuming that he'd definitely want to let Rebecca in, thereby hedging that he could get them both? I don't know. And it sucks that these things even have to be contemplated. I'm so tired of questioning people's motives...
